Linda Vista: Up On A Hill
Linda Vista means "pretty view" in Spanish. It was given this name, because it sits on a bluff over-looking Mission Valley to the South. Linda Vista got its start in the 1940's as a neighborhood geared towards providing housing for aircraft workers in San Diego during WWII. Linda Vista is home to thriving immigrant communities and its culture reflects this wonderful influence. Home to the University of San Diego as well as Mesa Community College, Linda Vista benefits from the cultural, athletic and educational opportunities that both of these institutions bring to the community. There are many single family residences as well as duplex/triplex and multi-family dwellings in the neighborhood. Linda Vista has a fairly dense population throughout the community.
A short drive to Mission Valley or Downtown San Diego makes Linda Vista a convenient location for those who want to remain separated from the urban core of San Diego.
