South Park: A Quaint European Enclave
Locatedn on the south-side of Balboa Park, adjacent to North Park and Golden Hill, South Park is true to its name. It is a very unique neighborhood in San Diego as it has a distinctly European flair. Quaint and cozy—South Park is a neighborhood of mostly craftsman homes and bungalows. A great place to raise a family, but being only 3 – 5 minutes to downtown, also a great place to take advantage of all that the city has to offer. Get a good view of South Park by viewing our South Park Picture Tour 1 as well as our South Park Picture Tour 2.
Home to many excellent neighborhood bars, cafes and restaurants, South Park has a vibrant central corridor that leads to North Park. With events such as the Art Walk, Farmers Market and the Lantern Festival, South Park is a community that comes together for events and welcomes the outside world. Being the home of a German Immersion Charter School, South Park is also the benefactor of a number of the cultural events that the school puts on.
Although, North Park is much larger, South Park has arguably the most desirable urban housing stock within central San Diego. The large inventory of craftsman homes, many of them renovated and remodeled, keeps property values elevated. From small homes to large canyon-side houses and homes with granny flats—South park has a little bit to offer for everyone.
